The creation of Illinois Game Time was a twist of fate. After retiring from the NFL, my family and I relocated from the Bay Area of California. My children, Jaden and Jordyn, were eager to start playing basketball in 4th and 6th grades. I stepped in as their YMCA coach, and what began as a fun experience quickly ignited my competitive spirit. I dove into game strategies, leading to a series of championships in 2014 and 2015.

While I cherished coaching, I often reminded myself that retirement was about enjoying my kids’ games from the stands, sipping on a Coca-Cola and munching on a hot dog. But as Jaden and Jordyn’s talents developed, we felt it was time to seek a more competitive environment. My wife and I enrolled them in an AAU club, then switched to another within a year. Unfortunately, both experiences were disappointing, filled with disorganization, late coaches, and a lack of transparency.
From the stands, I could see the frustration on other parents’ faces. When my son’s 5th-grade coach arrived late again while the opposing team was warming up, I knew it was time to take action. I stepped onto the court, organized the team, and addressed the coach respectfully. “Our kids need you to be here early, not just on time. You set the standard for them, and every moment that standard isn’t raised is a moment lost for their development.” His shocked expression made it clear that change was necessary.
That evening, while dining at Uncle Julio’s with friends whose daughter played on our daughter’s team, I shared my vision of starting my own AAU program focused on quality over quantity. Their enthusiastic support led to the establishment of our first girls’ and boys’ teams in 2016.
The name “Game Time” was inspired by Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls’ iconic pregame chant: “What time is it? Game Time!”
As Illinois Game Time flourished, I found immense joy in working closely with our players. Helping them refine their skills, preparing for games, and building connections with college coaches arcoss the country became the highlights of my life. Watching our players make their high school teams and get recruited for college basketball brought me a fulfillment that rivaled my NFL days.
Since our founding, Illinois Game Time has celebrated numerous players getting recruited to play college basketball, winning championships: Nike Tournament of Champions, All-Star Classic, Prep Hoops, Chicago Classic, and more. Yet beyond the accolades, we focus on cultivating student-athletes who value academics as much as athletics.
Looking ahead, I am dedicated to further developing our players and providing coaching internship opportunities for our players who share my passion. My mission is to inspire the next generation of coaches, empowering them to motivate our youth and set high standards, encouraging each player to strive for improvement every day.
This journey has been unexpected, but when God calls you collect, you accept and listen. I am truly grateful for every moment. Illinois Game Time Basketball is more than just an AAU club in Naperville, Illinois; it’s a vibrant community that genuinely invests in our student-athletes. We uphold high standards, inspiring each athlete to pursue greatness both in the classroom and on the court, encouraging them to be better than they were yesterday.

Anthony Parker

I’m Coach Anthony Parker, and my journey has been defined by relentless determination, triumphs, and invaluable lessons rooted in my upbringing in Denver, Colorado. From a young age, I immersed myself in sports: basketball, track, and football emerging as a standout multi-sport athlete. I earned numerous accolades, from Pre-Season Blue Chip All-American, All-State, and All-Conference to being ranked as the 12th top collegiate cornerback in the country by USA Today. I learned early on that greatness is achieved through hard work and unwavering commitment.

At Weber State University, I found a way to merge my passion for athletics with my commitment to academics, excelling in both football and track and field. Graduating with a degree in business management and Technical Sales, I maintained a strong GPA and earned a place on the honor roll. Those years instilled in me the values of discipline and perseverance, lessons that have shaped my career and my life.
The pinnacle of my athletic journey came when I was drafted as the 3rd pick by the legendary Bill Walsh for the five-time Super Bowl champion San Francisco 49ers. My five years in the NFL, surrounded by elite talent and learning from the best coaches in the game, ignited a fire within me. I gained invaluable insights into leadership, resilience, and the transformative power of teamwork.
As my playing days came to an end due to injuries, I seamlessly transitioned into the corporate world as an executive for Armor Sports. However, my true calling emerged: to inspire, mentor, and coach young athletes to reach their full potential. Inspired by the coaches who shaped my journey, I channeled my passion for entrepreneurship and personal growth into writing books like If You Believe, You Can Achieve and You Are Somebody: Only You Can Stop You. I earned my MBA from the John Sperling School of Business and founded multiple businesses all while embracing my roles as a husband and father with the same enthusiasm I brought to the field.
In 2016, I founded Illinois Game Time with a clear mission: to inspire and mentor young athletes to reach for the stars. While only a select few will make it to the NBA or WNBA, I believe every young person has the potential for greatness in their own unique way. Whether it’s becoming a leader in their community, excelling in their careers, or being a loving parent, the possibilities are limitless.
At Illinois Game Time, I pour my heart and soul into nurturing the next generation. I strive to create an environment where every athlete feels valued and empowered. With each practice and games, my goal is to help them become better mentally and physically than they were yesterday.
Success isn’t just about points scored or games won; it’s about personal growth, resilience, and character-building. I am filled with pride and motivation as I watch my players transform. They inspire me, and I see reflections of my own journey in them. Every success story reinforces my commitment to building a legacy that transcends the court one where hard work, perseverance, and teamwork create not just great athletes, but incredible individuals.
My journey is a testament to the belief that every dream is worth pursuing. With unwavering dedication, faith, and a touch of luck, I am here to guide the next generation of athletes, inspiring them to soar to new heights.
